YouTube blocks the number of "dislikes" marks on videos - يوتيوب تحجب عدم الإعجاب عن الفيديوهات
YouTube announced today, Wednesday, that it will ban the number of dislikes for videos posted on its
platform from now on, in order to protect content creators from harassment and targeted attacks.
Google's giant platform indicated that its users will still be able to click the "Disliked this video" button,
but they will not see the number of dislikes on the clip.
Creators will still be able to see the number of likes in their YouTube Studio where they can see different data associated with their channel.
“We wanted to create an environment of respect and inclusion that allows content creators to achieve
success and to express themselves in safety,” YouTube said in a statement.
And the giant platform pointed out that this new measure “is part of the many measures we are taking to continue to protect content creators from harassment.”
She explained that she conducted a test earlier this year that included some content makers to see if blocking the number of dislike clicks limits negative interactions.
The results prove this theory, especially for young content creators, beginners and veterans.
Since May, Facebook and Instagram users can block the number of likes on their posts.
Major social networks and video platforms often face accusations from officials, legislators and associations of failing to combat online harassment.
Facebook accounts for the bulk of these criticisms, especially in light of the leaks of a former employee of the giant network accusing the platform of prioritizing its profits over the safety of its users.
YouTube is an American video-sharing platform based in San Bruno, California, according to Wikipedia.
The service, which was set up in February 2005 by three former PayPal employees — Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jude Karim — was bought by Google in November 2006 for $1.65 billion and now operates as a subsidiary of the company, according to Wikipedia.

أعلنت شركة يوتيوب ،عن حجب عدد علامات عدم الإعجاب عن مقاطع الفيديو المنشورة على منصتها من الآن فصاعدا، بهدف حماية صانعي المحتوى من المضايقات والهجمات الموجهة. وأشارت المنصة العملاقة التابعة لمجموعة غوغل إلى أن مستخدميها سيظل في إمكانهم النقر على زر ”لم يعجبني هذا الفيديو“، لكنهم لن يروا عدد علامات عدم الإعجاب على المقطع.
أما صانعو المحتوى فسيظل بوسعهم رؤية عدد نقرات عدم الإعجاب في مساحتهم الخاصة ”يوتيوب ستوديو“ حيث يمكنهم الإطلاع على بيانات مختلفة مرتبطة بقناتهم. وقالت يوتيوب في بيان ”أردنا إنشاء بيئة قائمة على الاحترام وعدم الإقصاء تتيح لصانعي المحتوى تحقيق النجاح والتعبير عن أنفسهم بكل أمان“.
ولفتت المنصة العملاقة إلى أن هذا التدبير الجديد ”جزء من تدابير كثيرة نتخذها لمواصلة حماية صانعي المحتوى من المضايقات“. وأوضحت أنها أجرت اختبارا مطلع العام الجاري شمل بعض صناع المحتوى لمعرفة ما إذا كان حجب عدد نقرات عدم الإعجاب يحد من التفاعلات السلبية.
وأثبتت النتائج هذه النظرية، خصوصا لدى صغار صناع المحتوى، المبتدئون منهم والمخضرمون. ومنذ أيار/مايو، بات في إمكان مستخدمي فيسبوك وإنستغرام حجب عدد علامات الإعجاب على منشوراتهم.
وغالبا ما تواجه الشبكات الاجتماعية الكبرى ومنصات الفيديو اتهامات من مسؤولين ومشرعين وجمعيات بالتقصير في مكافحة المضايقات عبر الإنترنت. وتستحوذ فيسبوك على الجزء الأكبر من هذه الانتقادات، خصوصا في ظل تسريبات موظفة سابقة في الشبكة العملاقة تتهم فيها المنصة بأنها تعطي الأولوية لأرباحها على حساب سلامة مستخدميها.
وموقع يوتيوب منصة أمريكية لمشاركة الفيديوهات عبر الإنترنت، تتخذ من سان برونو في كاليفورنيا مقرا لها، وفق موسوعة ويكيبيديا. والخدمة، التي تم إنشاؤها في شباط/ فبراير 2005 من قبل ثلاثة موظفين سابقين في باي بال – تشاد هيرلي وستيف تشين وجويد كريم – اشترتها غوغل في نوفمبر 2006 مقابل 1.65 مليار دولار أمريكي، وتعمل الآن كإحدى الشركات الفرعية للشركة، وفق ويكيبيديا.
ويتيح اليوتيوب للمستخدمين تحميل وعرض وتقييم ومشاركة وإضافة إلى قوائم التشغيل والإبلاغ عن مقاطع الفيديو والتعليق عليها والاشتراك مع مستخدمين آخرين. ويتضمن المحتوى المتاح مقاطع الفيديو ومقاطع البرامج التلفزيونية ومقاطع الفيديو الموسيقية والأفلام القصيرة والوثائقية والتسجيلات الصوتية ومقاطع الأفلام والبث المباشر وتدوين الفيديو ومقاطع الفيديو الأصلية القصيرة ومقاطع الفيديو التعليمية.
